Smith Engineering is pleased to host the Fourth Annual Competency Based Assessment (CBA) Symposium on the beautiful Queen’s campus in Kingston, Ontario. There are three event sponsors this year: Smith Engineering at Queen’s University; the College of Engineering at University of Saskatchewan; and the Canadian Engineering Education Association (CEEA-ACEG). DATES: Wednesday, May 20th, evening : Pre-Event Presentation for Newcomers (In-Person with option to stream) Thursday, May 21 and Friday, May 22, full day: Symposium (In-Person only) REGISTRATION FEE: $295.00 (Fee includes attendance for all events and coffee breaks and lunches on full days (21st and 22nd), and a post event reception on the final day (22nd).

This course will provide you with an overview the mining industry, and is designed for professionals new to the mining sector, as well as those working in related sectors such as: investment and finance, suppliers and vendors, government, NGO’s and community groups. This course will cover a wide range of topics including finance and the economy, types of mining and the differing processes and procedures, the impact of mining on our society along with social and environmental responsibilities, as well as a look at the future of mining. This course is designed to be taken at your own pace, and as such there are no group discussions or assignments that require interaction with your class. Instead assessments take the form of modular quizzes intended to test your understanding.
