SIF 2026

14th International Conference on Structures in Fire

Structural fire safety is a critical consideration in the design of modern buildings and infrastructure. In recent decades, substantial research efforts have significantly advanced knowledge in this field. However, prior to the 1990s, structural fire engineers had limited opportunities to exchange ideas and disseminate findings within a dedicated international forum.

To address this need, the Structures in Fire (SiF) workshop series was established in the late 1990s. The inaugural event, the First International SiF Workshop, was held in Denmark in 2000, followed by workshops in New Zealand (2002), Canada (2004), and Portugal (2006). With growing participation and interest, the series evolved into a full international conference, beginning with the fifth event in Singapore (2008).

Since then, the SiF conference has continued to grow, with editions held in East Lansing, USA (2010); Zurich, Switzerland (2012); Shanghai, China (2014); New Jersey, USA (2016); Belfast, UK (2018); Brisbane, Australia (2020); Hong Kong, China (2022); and Coimbra, Portugal (2024). The mission of the SiF conference series is to provide a global platform for researchers, engineers, and practitioners in structural fire engineering to present, exchange, and discuss the latest research findings, innovations, and technical developments. Notable features of SiF include a focused thematic scope on “structures in fire,” rigorous peer review, high-quality presentations, ample time for discussion, and accessible participation through reasonable registration fees.

Building on the continued success of previous editions, Queen’s University and York University are proud to jointly host the 14th International Conference on Structures in Fire (SiF 2026), to be held in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, from May 18 to 21, 2026.
